At Hyland Dental, our dentists and team are highly experienced and knowledgeable, but without the right dental technology, they wouldn’t be able to optimize their skills and provide patients with outstanding, long-lasting results. That’s why our dental office is equipped with the latest, high-tech diagnostic and clinical equipment in the dental world, like our cone beam CT scanner CEREC. You can learn more about some of the gadgets that we have around the dental office by reading below.
Intraoral cameras are small, easily maneuverable, hand-held devices that allow Dr. Hyland and Dr. Hempen to view hard-to-see, areas of your mouth that may otherwise be overlooked during examinations. The footage from the camera is displayed on a large chairside monitor next to your treatment chair, allowing our dentists to both show and explain what oral issues they’re looking at. Not only is this a great educational tool for our team, but it also allows our dentists to ensure that no stone goes left unturned.
In the past, dentists would use film X-ray imaging systems to be able to see the hidden area of your mouth that lies below your gumline. The images took awhile to develop, extending how long basic checkups lasted, used harmful chemicals for the environment, and required patients to wear a heavy lead vest to protect them from radiation. At Hyland Dental, we utilize digital X-ray imaging that works similarly to a digital camera. As soon as the image is snapped, it will be immediately viewable on our monitor. Some other benefits of this technology include reduced radiation exposure and no harmful chemicals!
Our cone beam CT scanner is an amazing device that allows our dentists to precisely plan a wide variety of treatments, even the most complex. It creates a 3D, panoramic image of the entire facial structure, capturing the location of the nerves and sinuses as well as dentition. It’s an excellent gadget to help guide us to provide effective TMJ therapy, orthodontic treatment, and other procedures.
Paired with our CEREC one-visit restoration system, our digital impression system creates a digital blueprint of the structure of a tooth or teeth to send off to our in-house milling machine to craft a beautiful, perfectly-fitted restoration. This means that you won’t have to worry about having a piece of putty placed in your mouth, just a thin, pen-shaped structure that you’ll hardly notice is there.
Have you ever needed a treatment that required general anesthesia? When you visit Hyland Dental, you’ll never need to see a needle in these situations, because we use an advanced device, called The Wand. It allows us to administer localized numbing to the area that we’re treating in a precise and consistent flow, eliminating any collateral numbness after the procedure.
